Installation

Get Vigilare up and running in less than a minute.

System Requirements​

  • macOS 16.0 or later
  • Apple Reminders app (pre-installed on all Macs)

First Launch​

When you first open Vigilare:

1. Grant Reminders Access​

  • Required: The app needs permission to read and write your reminders
  • Click "Allow" when prompted
  • If you accidentally denied, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Reminders

2. Initial Window Setup​

  • The floating window appears automatically
  • Drag it to your preferred position (the app remembers this)
  • Your existing reminders load instantly

3. Quick Tour​

  • Window Controls: Minimize (−), close (×), settings (⚙), refresh (↻)
  • List Selection: Click the dropdown at the top to switch between lists (shows task counts)
  • Add Tasks: Type in the bottom field and press Enter
  • Complete Tasks: Click the checkbox
  • Edit Tasks: Double-click any reminder
  • Change Due Date: Hover over a task and click the calendar icon for quick date options
  • Delete Tasks: Hover and click the trash icon

Customize Your Experience​

Window Behavior​

Open Settings (⚙) to adjust:

  • Window Level: Always on top, normal, or desktop level
  • Spaces: Show on all spaces or current space only

List Management​

Manage your lists in Settings → Lists:

  • Archive Lists: Hide lists you're not actively using
  • Archived lists and their tasks won't appear in any view
  • Lists remain unchanged in Apple Reminders

Launch at Login​

Enable "Launch at login" in Settings → General to start Vigilare automatically.

Tips for Best Experience​

  1. Position the window where it won't block important content (corners work great)
  2. Use list filtering to focus on specific projects (check task counts to prioritize)
  3. Archive completed projects to reduce clutter while keeping them in Apple Reminders
  4. Use quick date picker to reschedule tasks without opening the edit dialog
  5. Minimize to icon when presenting or sharing your screen

Troubleshooting​

Can't see your reminders?​

  • Make sure you've granted Reminders access
  • Click the refresh button (↻)
  • Check that you have reminders in the Apple Reminders app

Window disappeared?​

  • Click the Vigilare icon in the Dock
  • Window will reappear
